Antenatal Shared Care

Program Overview and Rationale

The Antenatal Shared Care program aims to provide education and ongoing support for GPs providing pregnancy care.

The ‘Antenatal Shared Care Program’ (ANSC) is an initiative jointly funded by Central Coast Health and The Central Coast Division of General Practice.

The program involves the employment of an ANSC Coordinator to:

  • Improve communications between CCH Maternity Services and GP’s
  • Provide resources and information relating to pregnancy, childbirth, postnatal and baby care.
  • Organise education sessions for GP’s and health professionals

This program/service is for any General Practitioner providing antenatal care and immediate postnatal care (up to 28 days after the birth of the baby).  GPs wishing to join the ANSC team, can contact the ANSC Coordinator for the ANSC Guidelines and Protocol folder, which includes eligibility criteria, information and application form.

The ANSC Coordinator provides GPs and practice staff with information and support about the program through practices visits, phone calls, newsletters and educational sessions.
